Fun. is an indie pop band from New York formed in 2008 by Nate Ruess, formerly of The Format. He formed the band with Andrew Dost from Anathallo and Jack Antonoff from Steel Train. Their debut album, Aim and Ignite, was released August 25, 2009.

The band has recently signed with record label Fueled by Ramen.

On September 14, 2010 fun. released a deluxe version of “Aim & Ignite” in both Canada and America which included the original 12 tracks, as well as two remixes by R.A.C, music videos, and a newly recorded song called “Stitch Me Up”.

Songfacts reports that their song We Are Young featured on the TV show Glee during its December 6, 2011 episode “Hold On to Sixteen.” It was performed after the end of Sectionals in the auditorium of McKinley High. The version by the Glee Cast debuted at #12 on the Hot 100 on the following week, spurring fun.’s original to enter the same chart at #53.– Excerpt from Last.Fm

Emeli Sandé is a Scottish singer. A former medical student, Sandé has achieved two top 10 singles in the UK, by collaborating with rapper Chipmunk on his song Diamond Rings in 2009, and then with Wiley on his 2010 single, Never Be Your Woman. She supported Solange Knowles on tour. The Heaven Songfacts reports that she signed her first major record deal with Virgin Records in 2010 before signing another deal with EMI in 2011. Catherine Tift Merritt (born January 8, 1975, in Houston, Texas, but moved to Raleigh, North Carolina soon after) is an American singer-songwriter, musician. She is currently based in New York.

In 2000, Tift won Merlefest’s Chris Austin Songwriting contest, and with the help of Ryan Adams, found herself with a manager and a recording contract with Lost Highway records. The band headed to LA to record her first release, Bramble Rose, in 2002, produced by Ethan Johns. The record landed on Time Magazine’s and New Yorker’s top ten lists and was called the best debut of the year in any genre by the Associated Press.– Excerpt from Last.Fm

Little Dragon

Little Dragon is an electronic music group formed in 2006 and based in Gothenburg, Sweden. The band is made up of Yukimi Nagano (vocals), Fredrick Källgren (bass), Håkan Wirenstrand (keyboards) and Erik Bodin (drums). To date, they have released three studio albums: Little Dragon (2007), Machine Dreams (2009) and Ritual Union (2011).

Nagano and Bodin play live with José González. Bodin also drums with Peps Perrson, a Swedish blues/reggae artist. Swedish electronic jazz duo Koop’s albums Waltz for Koop and Koop Islands feature Yukimi Nagano’s vocals on several tracks.

The band collaborated with Gorillaz on two tracks (“Empire Ants” and “To Binge”) from their 2010 released album, Plastic Beach. Little Dragon also collaborated with Maximum Balloon (the solo project of David Andrew Sitek, producer and member of TV On The Radio), for one track entitled “If You Return”. In 2011, the band’s collaboration with SBTRKT on “Wildfire” was released as the lead single from his self-titled debut LP. – Excerpt from Last.Fm

The Civil Wars consists of John Paul White, hailing from Florence, AL and Joy Williams, originally from Santa Cruz, CA, but now residing in East Nashville. The duo’s chance meeting fueled an immediate songwriting chemistry and creative synergy. Their second show ever, performed at a sold out Eddie’s Attic, was recorded and released as a free digital album.

Barton Hollow, the full-length debut from The Civil Wars, was released February 1 (Sensibility Music). According to the Barton Hollow Songfacts, it debuted at #1 on iTunes’ album sales chart and at #12 on the Billboard 200. The album came on the heels of a breakout year for the duo, whose remarkably successful free/live album has been downloaded over 100,000 times. Additionally, their 2009 four song EP, Poison & Wine, debuted at #4 on the iTunes Singer/Songwriter Top Albums chart. Priscilla Ahn (born Priscilla Natalie Hartranft in Fort Stewart, Georgia, USA in 1984) is an American singer-songwriter. To date, her albums include A Good Day (2008) and When You Grow Up (2011).

Now Los Angeles-based, Ahn joined the Fall 2008 Hotel Café Tour, and subsequently toured with Meiko, Erin McCarley, Laura Jansen, and Ingrid Michaelson. In live performance she plays acoustic guitar, harmonica, and kazoo. Although atypical instruments, her talented use of the harmonica and kazoo add a beautiful quality to her songs She – like many other performers – will occasionally use a loop pedal to record and play background vocals in real time. Even being the only artist on stage, Ahn is able to bring a richly layered and complex sound to her shows.

The Head and The Heart is an indie folk-pop band from Seattle, Washington. Formed in the summer of 2009 by Josiah Johnson (vocals, guitar, percussion) and Jonathan Russell (vocals, guitar, percussion), the band also includes Charity Rose Thielen (violin, vocals), Chris Zasche (bass), Kenny Hensley (piano), and Tyler Williams (drums).

The band self-released their debut album The Head and The Heart in June 2009, selling it at concerts, by word of mouth, and through local record stores. In the ensuing months the album sold 10,000 copies. Their music plays heavily on the trio of vocal harmonies, piano and violin melodies, and prominent drums and percussion. It was the top-selling album of the year 2010 for the independent Sonic Boom Records in the band’s home neighborhood of Ballard, Seattle. The remastered, expanded album was re-released on Sub Pop Records on April 16, 2011.

The band has toured extensively through 2010 and 2011 in both the United States and Europe, opening for Vampire Weekend, The Walkmen, Dr. Dog, Dave Matthews, The Low Anthem, The Decemberists, Iron & Wine, My Morning Jacket, and Death Cab For Cutie, as well as headlining their own shows.
