MoZella

You Don’t Love Anyone But YourselfMoZella. The Brian Holland Sessions.

Last.Fm Bio:
Detroit-bred singer-songwriter MoZella (born Maureen McDonald, 1982) seamlessly blends pop, soul, and jazz into her carefully crafted tales of life and love. Her charismatic vocals and charming personality have earned her the reputation as a fresh alternative to formulaic pop artists. Now based out of Los Angeles, MoZella is releasing a brand new album in July 2012, co-written with motown legend Brian Holland, “The Brian Holland Sessions.” Holland wrote over 25 #1 Motown songs.

Armed with nothing but her guitar, the blonde troubadour set out for the West Coast immediately after graduating from high school to pursue her music career. When things didn’t develop as quickly as she had hoped, MoZella found herself decorating cakes by day and performing in coffee shops at night. All her hard work eventually paid off, as she was signed to Madonna’s Maverick Records in 2004.
Following her Warner/Maverick debut in 2006, MoZella toured the U.S. with the Dave Matthews Band, Lifehouse, Five For Fighting, Daniel Powter, Michelle Branch, and Colbie Caillat. About this time, MoZella’s single “Amnesia” charted on Hot AC across the country, and she performed on radio stations throughout the U.S. Her songs have been featured in several television series including One Tree Hill, Las Vegas, How I Met Your Mother, Bones, Wildfire, Lipstick Jungle, as well as many others.

Matthew Perryman Jones

Save YouMatthew Perryman Jones. Swallow the Sea.

Last.Fm Bio:
“An articulate songwriter with a versatile and gritty tenor voice — a combination that has drawn comparisons to everyone from Jeff Buckley to Leonard Cohen — Matthew Perryman Jones has the touch of a poet and the narrative reach of a short story writer, making the best of his songs deeply resonant.” -Steve Leggett (Rovi)

Having just finished his first full length album since 2008, Land of the Living was produced by Cason Cooley (Katie Herzig) and is set to be released on May 29th. This record was fan funded through Kickstarter and raised over $26K in 1 month, 30% over his asking goal. This no doubt conveys an enthusiasm among fans of MPJ’s music. Kickstarter backers who received an advance download of the record are already touting this to be Jones’ best work to date. Matthew holds nothing back on this record and delivers his most emotional and musically compelling work yet.

Jones began playing out in 1997, debuting at Eddie’s Attic in Decatur, GA, but he soon relocated to Nashville. In 2000 he released Nowhere Else But Here followed by an EP, For the Road, in 2003. Released in 2006, Throwing Punches in the Dark was produced by Neilson Hubbard (Glen Phillips, Garrison Star) and met with high critical praise. Jones re-teamed with Hubbard for Swallow the Sea, which was released in 2008. His music has found a home on Film and TV with over 30 placements on shows such as Grey’s Anatomy, Bones, One Tree Hill, Pretty Liars & Private Practice.

Jon McLaughlin

Beautiful DisasterJon McLaughlin. Indiana.

Last.Fm Bio:
Not to be confused with the jazz-rock guitarist John McLaughlin (of Mahavishnu Orchestra fame), Jon McLaughlin (born September 27, 1982) is a piano-playing pop/rock singer-songwriter from Anderson, Indiana. His debut album Indiana was released on May 1, 2007, preceded by his first EP Industry, also known as Jon McL, in February, 2007. In 2008, McLaughlin returned with lead single “Beating My Heart”, which is available on iTunes. The song is a part of his previous album called OK Now, confirmed on his official site. OK Now was released on October 7th, 2008. He gained fame with his cameo appearance in Disney’s Enchanted. Released in early September 2011 in the US, Forever If Ever is Jon’s 3rd major label release and his newest album to date. It could previously be downloaded on Amazon’s website and the compact disc bought at his personal website. However, seeing as the album will have a re-release with additional tracks and a new name “Promising Promises”, the first release has been ultimately shelved. Only the lucky early buyers have a hold of these songs until they are re-released in May 2012. The lead single preceeding the album is “Summer Is Over” featuring the singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles. It was released in late January 2012.
